Last week, the Global Water Intelligence (GWI) announced the shortlisted entries for their 2021 Global Water Awards. The ARAMCO Ain Dar sulphate removal facility (SRF) has been nominated and shortlisted for the award category “Industrial Project of the Year.”

This award rewards qualified industrial water and/or wastewater projects, commissioned in 2020, that shows the greatest technical or environmental achievements.

The Ain Dar project is one of the world’s largest Sulphate Removal NF installations and is part of Aramco’s gigantic Qurrayah Sea Water Plant injection system.aramco quote

The purpose of this project is to produce low sulfate seawater water which can be injected into Ghawar’s ‘Ain Dar and Fazran fields enhancing crude oil production. This provides a sustainable cost-effective solution to prevent/reduce scaling and clogging of the oil reservoir caused by barium and strontium sulphate sulfate as well as contributes to water conservation.

Our company, SafBon Water Technology, based in Tampa, FL USA, is the technology supplier for the 69,000 m3/d nanofiltration (NF) system package providing design, engineering, manufacturing, and assembly. We are proud to be a part of this project and having the opportunity to work alongside with key world class companies ARAMCO, ENPPI, AMEC-FW (now WOOD), and Hydranautics (Nitto).

We are excited for this nomination and invite all GWI / WDR subscribers to vote for this project!!!
